Volunteers of all skill levels and backgrounds are needed during an emergency response. Clayton County residents can assist in a wide variety of tasks that include data entry, serving meals to shelter residents, or providing medical care. Whether you are a licensed and certified provider, an administrative specialist, a retired professional, or someone who wants to help the community in a disaster, WE NEED YOU!

PHVIP Training Courses Now Available!
In order to serve as a public health volunteer, PHVIP applicants are required to take a one-time, 4.5-hour training course that orients volunteers to the program and explains the roles and responsibilities of public health officials during an emergency or disaster. The next times the course will be offered are Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 from 12:00-5 p.m. and Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 12:00-5 p.m. at the Clayton County Board of Health. The course is free.

ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
SERVGA is a State of Georgia based registry that provides volunteer
opportunities and integrates local, regional, and statewide volunteer programs to assist emergency response and public safety organizations during a disaster. It is part of a national initiative to coordinate and mobilizevolunteers to respond to all types of emergencies. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
