The Clayton County Adolescent Health and Youth Development Center, also known as the Teen Center, was designed to enhance the skills and improve the health status of adolescents through opportunities and programs developed in collaboration with families, communities, schools and other public and private organizations throughout Clayton County. Programs and services target youth ages 10 to 19. The “Indicators of Youth Risk Behavior” is used to identify communities that have the greatest need for risk prevention and reduction.
Clayton County Adolescent Health and Youth Development Center sponsors programs that reinforce positive attitudes, healthy behaviors and activities to decrease such as violence, substance abuse, poor school performance and early sexual activity. The center provides a comprehensive and holistic approach with assisting our youth in the following ways:
- Clinical Services;
- Computer Lab;
- Teen Support Group;
- Educational workshops;
- Educational Resource Library;
- Summer Tutorial Program;
- Male Leadership Development Program;
- Implementation of an Entrepreneurial Academy;
- Implementation of Television and Film Production Program; and
- Development of a Parent Resource Center
